Daniel Afram MSW RSW

With over 20 years of experience in the mental health field, Daniel Afram has extensive expertise working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in trauma recovery and mental health treatment. He holds a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Carleton University and a Master’s in Social Work from Sir Wilfrid Laurier University. Additionally, Daniel completed a graduate certificate in Addictions Treatment and Prevention from Georgian College.
Daniel is passionate about supporting systemically marginalized communities, with a particular focus on trauma and concurrent disorders. He has worked in a variety of settings, including inpatient and outpatient mental health programs, providing services to remote, rural, and urban communities. Notably, Daniel served as the Clinical Director of the Umingmak Centre, Nunavut’s first Child and Youth Advocacy Centre (CYAC), which provides trauma-focused care to children and families following disclosures of child maltreatment.
Daniel's therapeutic approach is trauma-focused, utilizing modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). His extensive experience includes designing culturally safe programs and individualized treatment plans for trauma, addictions, and other mental health disorders like depression and anxiety.
Licensed as a Registered Social Worker in Ontario, Daniel is also able to provide services to clients in Nunavut, Yukon, and Quebec. His areas of expertise include childhood trauma, grief and loss, addictions, and mental health challenges
