Dua Dahrouj MSW student

Hi, my name is Dua! I am a Therapist Intern currently under the clinical supervision of Dallas Davidson while pursuing my master’s degree in social work (MSW) at the University of Toronto. My commitment is to deliver therapy rooted in a strengths-based and culturally responsive perspective to create an affirming space where individuals can explore their unique journeys and navigate various challenges.

I have particular interest in working with individuals with symptoms of ADHD, anxiety, depression, interpersonal and intrapersonal conflicts, as well as identity challenges.

Drawing from my prior experience as a social worker, I have provided direct support with case management for goal achievement, child protection concerns, inpatient mental health issues, crisis responses, and addressing systemic barriers. In addition to my MSW education, I hold a bachelor’s degree in social work from Toronto Metropolitan University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology and family studies from Western University.

To recognize that we all have different experiences and needs, my approach to therapy is holistic, integrating evidence-based techniques from the following modalities:

  • Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Collaboratively identifying and challenging negative thought patterns to foster cognitive restructuring and skill-building.

  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT): Cultivating mindfulness to manage stress, enhance self-awareness, and break free from automatic negative thought patterns.

  • Narrative Therapy: Reshaping and reconstructing narratives impacting self-esteem and interpersonal interactions with an emphasis on resilience and empowerment.

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT): Exploring and restructuring emotional responses within relationships to foster secure connections and improved communication.

  • Anti-Oppressive Anti-Racism Approach (AOAR): Recognizing the significance of individual and collective identities, understanding the intersections of our identities within the broader societal context, and addressing systemic factors impacting our experiences.

With a deep commitment to fostering positive change, I am here to support your journey towards healing and empowerment. I invite you to reach out for a meet and greet to discuss your questions, hopes and needs!

I can provide virtual therapy for individuals who are in Ontario and BC.

Rates: $80-$50
